One more difference between statistics and [machine learning, data science, etc.] A blog post about differences between statistics and data science.
I belong to the "data science is just the new cool name for statistics" camp :-) I think the blog post linked in the parent confuses what statistics is with how statistics is typically taught. As a consequence it sets up a very narrow idea of statistics and then easily shows that "data science" is wider than narrow and limited "statistics".
