I don't see how Pennyology proves your point: a pennyologist *discovers* that there's an O on the front and an O on the back. Perhaps he *invents* meaning to attach to this fact, but the fact was first discovered.
Or is that what you were saying: that we discover mathematical facts, but in fact what we call "mathematics" is the invention of *meaning* that we attach to certain favored facts?
