James Hansen argues there's a risk of a "Venus syndrome" in which runaway climate change makes the planet hostile to all life, which certainly puts it in the existential risk column. However, I think this is markedly less likely than UFAI doing us all in, and even if it wasn't, there are so many people working on global warming that the marginal contribution I can make is much less.
