Austin LW'er here. I totally would have come to this, but somehow I missed the announcement in the meta-meetup thread. I will watch for the next one of these and absolutely be there.
Edit: Wait... why was this downvoted?
We will probably have another next week at the same time. I will PM you whenever I settle upon new dates.
I won't claim it was hugely successful - no one else showed up, but I did get a couple of people at my hackerspace interested, and some vague promises of people coming next week. Still, I think there's potential here. We'll see.
Sorry I missed the meetup. I wasn't feeling up for it, but I really wanted to observe the meetup.
I'm a Waco LWer, and I was going to go this, but I missed it, appropriately, because I used the time to finish my liquid-cooled Bitcoin mining rig.
Also, the late Sunday night thing didn't help but I guess that's their regular time.
Monday would be worse since I'd be visiting from Waco -- 3-4 hour drive. Whatever happened to Saturday? Or Friday?
Friday or Saturday might be future possibilities - aligning our schedule with TX/RX makes that difficult sometimes, but there's no reason why we have to meet in the hackerspace. If several people end up wanting other times, we can move things around. I wasn't expecting much interest outside of Houston, so I didn't think that later Sunday would have been a problem.
If anyone else in the area wants to come by, but has times they can't make it, let me know.
I don't know and it was on both of you posts in this thread. I voted up on both because I could not discern the reason.
Food is often considered to be a very important ingredient, when one is trying to form a community. Effort above and beyond pizza might be worth looking into. A project for alleviating suffering might be a good place to start.

Announcement for the next Houston meetup.
Sunday May 22, 5:00PM
TX/RX Hackerspace
2010 Commerce St
Houston, TX 77002
Goals:
In general, to become more awesome. In specific, to learn about cognitive biases as a group, figure out how to become less wrong, and have fun while doing it. We also may experiment with integrating a hackerspace, which already has several lesswrongians, into the group. The first meeting will mostly be a meet and greet to establish future directions, with perhaps a video lecture and discussion on cognitive biases depending on the time constraints of the people who come. The door to the building will have a sign marked Less Wrong, and the nearby empty lot can be used for parking.
Dvorak, a thus far much more active member in the community, will be providing me with support in organizing the group.
Edit:
There will be pizza. Also, a pictoral view
This is the set of buildings that the hackerspace is in. It's difficult to see our front from this angle - unfortunately google maps decided to map everything but our little section of commerce street. It's near where the white truck and red motorcycle are.
And this is the empty lot that you can park in.
