I'm a rationalist, however I don't feel a strong motivation to make the world a better place?
There is no connection between being a rationalist and trying to make the world a better place.
What is a "better place" is a function of your values, anyway. People tend to disagree about that and occasionally go to war to figure out their disagreement :-/
