You're right, but now I wonder how it happened (going to HTTPS). I would guess that I googled the address somehow or followed someone's link, but I don't remember anymore.

I think that by now both Chrome and Firefox will, by default, attempt an HTTPS connection if HTTP is not specified explicitly.

That is, going to "rationality.org" will by default do "https://rationality.org". You can manually override that by specifying "http://rationality.org", but, of course, few people bother.
