Computational functionalism is probably wrong
What's going on with computational functionalism? I spent a lot of time reading the arguments for and against and scratching my head. As a result, I updated away from it as my favorite theory of mind.
In this sequence, I’ll try to chart my journey and capture the main issues that pulled me away from it. I now think, all things considered, that computational functionalism is probably wrong. Wrong in the same way Newtonian mechanics is wrong: a very useful framework for making sense of consciousness, but not the end of the story.
