Note: This is probably going to be a pretty small gathering since a bunch of people will be out of town, but I (Jeremy) will be there at least, reading a book and/or fiddling on the internet and/or handing out flyers for PauseAI.
Someone told me recently about this ACX post about Conflict Vs. Mistake Theory, which sounded interesting to me. I haven't yet read it - will do so before the meetup - but here's ChatGPT's summary:
In “Conflict vs. Mistake,” Scott Alexander contrasts two ways of understanding political disagreement. Mistake Theory sees politics as a cooperative effort disrupted by misunderstandings or bad information, fixable through reasoned debate. Conflict Theory, by contrast, sees... (read more)
Hi folks,
I would like to invite you to another film screening at my home, this time featuring a proper projection screen and a new, quieter, brighter, and more focussed projector.

Hi everyone!
The discord poll has spoken, barring a last minute upset, we will be watching Discordia tomorrow! (Hmm, did the fact that the poll happened on discord influence this at all? Probably not.)
Note that the 6pm start time was set by me before the spring-ahead time change. The sun sets a bit later now, so to minimize light leak from the windows and improve the viewing experience, I won't be starting the movie until 6:30pm. Sorry for the last-minute modification, we can fill the intervening time with preliminary discussion about Israel/Palestine, or whatever.
Jeremy.
This somewhat related discussion (Topic: The End of the World) is happening in the Plateau the day after our Saturday meetup - great group, I'll be there!
