Hey kids. I'm a young Canadian philosophy student trying to diversify my understanding of the world-as-it-is. Pressing my way through Rationality A-Z slowly, but while doing university, progress can be slow. I've been visiting the site frequently for a few months, but typically feel too uninformed to comment. I appreciate the (surprise) lack of bias and openness to critical thinking here, that I've found mysteriously vacant from my social, business and academic circles. I've gone through the process of being contrarian, then being a 'communist' (then reading Camus) then being lost in a world where it's difficult to find thinknig happening, at all. I come here to remind myself how to be (hah) less wrong, and see what cool things other intelligent folks are working on. If anyone has any links to blogs or sources that are interesting to someone trying to learn about...everything, I'm always looking for more networks to look to for information. Also what does a philosophy student who doesn't want to fall prey to the philosophy tropes do? (I already work at a pizza place.)
I see it more as the underlying theory of theory, an aspect of all things. I chose to study it with different intentions, but now I'm just capitalizing on my ability to understand theory to learn the theories important too as many different disciplines as possible. I read somehere that philosophers have a responsibility to learn as much science as they can if they want to be relevant. I'm trying.
