This is a really interesting article and I commend the author for broaching the topic and proposing a way of getting around this stigmatization in the field. After diseases though i think an even greater priority than increasing IQ or lifespan is tackling what may seem to be a really trivial matter. And that is the issue of skin lightening. Though this may seem like a trivial topic I would say that conservatively tens of millions of mostly women possibly even hundreds of Millions in africa, asia, and the Middle East are literally poisoning and disfiguring themselves attempting to lighten their skin. Now without getting to the whole topic of colonialism and all that other hand wringing, what we need is the ability to pick whatever skin tone you want your baby to have. Besides this I would estimate the market is conservatively worth tens of billions of dollars and more likely the hundreds of billions of dollars range. So there is also a great business opportunity here too. And before anyone starts going off on some rant about how we should be changing attitudes and all that, I really see no sign that attitudes are going to change any time in the next few decades and possibly a century. In the meantime millions of people continue to poison themselves. And multinationals already pitch their creams and poisons, so why not a safer approach. Thats why I think this is a very important topic and I hope somebody tackles it
