discounting on the radio
I thought this was an interesting radio piece. The economist is interviewed about hyperbolic discounting and existential risk (though not using those exact terms) and how it related to government spending. With a dose of "Politics is the mindkiller" thrown in for good measure. https://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2012/07/20/157105414/episode-388-putting-a-price-tag-on-your-descendants
I wasn't saying to commit to not breaking over the content of a text message, but to commit to not breaking up over the medium of texting.
Even in a two week old relationship, I think it's reasonable to say something like, "Hey, I enjoy hanging out with you, and it seems you feel the same. If you change your mind though, please don't tell me over text or e-mail, just give me a call."
