It depends on how strongly you believe in singularity. It is easy to ignore the whole thing as silly (which is essentially what I do), but if you have slightly different priors (or reasoning), it may be harmful.
While part of it, that doesn't appear to be all of it. It seems like it only applies for a narrow range of possible singularities. I keep coming back to visibility bias when I think about this.
