Is an Intelligence Explosion a Disjunctive or Conjunctive Event?

I think you answered it yourself, it is a false dichotomy. Any Boolean function (such as "humanity is wiped out by intelligence explosion: true or false?") can be represented as a disjunction of conjunctive terms, or, by De Morgan, a conjunction of disjunctive terms. Take your pick.

Oh, and if you state that the MWI is a conjunctive term, I would discount the whole thing as based on a manifestly untestable assumption.
