Somewhat echoing gwern's "why do we care" -- can you taboo "placebo effect"?
That's basically what I thought the article was doing.
OK. Judging from much of this discussion, it hasn't really done that well. My taboo request was prompted because I was confused about why you would make two completely distinct points, namely the conceptual/reification point and the point that expectation effects are mostly bunk, in the same post, unless there is some sort of weird connection I'm missing.
