We are holding a local Solstice celebration in Montreal on Friday, December 22nd! The following message is by Massimo:
"I will be hosting a Solstice celebration at my place this Friday the 22nd of December at 5PM! If you'd like an idea of what these events are traditionally like check out this recording of the 2022 Bay Area Solstice: https://youtu.be/9hV4coeum6w?si=OD-SY4m2GNEG5uSR
Obviously we're not gonna be able to do a whole show with live music, and I (personally, at least) have many ideas for how our event should differ both aesthetically and logistically, but this should give you a sense of what ideas we're drawing from. We're still in the middle of planning things out so we'll share more details in the next few days.
One important thing we've decided on though: we're strongly encouraging guests to bring their own performances! If you have a song or a short essay/story that's related to rationality or to end of year celebrations of any kind (excluding outright religious stuff) then suggest it and we'll add it to the list. You'll have the opportunity to perform it and/or other suggestions during the event. There's no obligation to perform if you're not up for it but I'd highly recommend it!
Anyone reading this is welcome to attend, even if you're not a regular at the ACX meetups. If you don't already have my home address please DM me [on Discord @Massimog] so I can give it to you privately. Everyone else is also encouraged to RSVP [in the Montreal Rationalists Discord] or via DMs."
Venue: Massimo's Place. (DM/comment/email for details) Date & Time: Friday, December 22nd, 2023, ~5:00PM.
PS: Massimo is making delicious stew! We'll have (an unknown amount of) candles!
