We're the regular Northampton area meetup for ACX readers and (as far as I know) the only rationalist or EA community gathering in the Pioneer Valley so far.

We started as part of the 2018 ACX Meetups Everywhere event, and have been holding meetups with varying degrees of regularity ever since. At most meetups we get about 4-7 people out of a rotation of 15-20, with a nice mix of regular faces, people who only drop in once in a while, and occasionally total newcomers. As with most places, Meetups Everywhere events like this one tend to run on the high end for attendance, especially newcomers.

There's no "format" or suggested readings. Although it's not rare for us to touch on ACX articles and related topics, the conversation varies wildly, and you are welcome even if you're the most occasional ACX reader (or just interested in rationalism in general, or even just related topics like EA).

This meetup, for the first time, we're meeting at the common house at Rocky Hill Cohousing, at 100 Black Birch Trail, Northampton, MA 01062, which will probably become the default spot going forward. Facebook and Apple Maps show it as being in Florence, but Google Maps, Bing Maps and the official site show it as being in Northampton. (For those unfamiliar, Florence is actually a semi-autonomous neighborhood of Northampton, and some places that locals consider as being in Florence still have official addresses in Northampton... it's best not to think about it too hard.) The common house is the first building you see when coming into the community (but after the event parking, which lines the road leading in on the right).

Parking explanation from the member hosting us: "Guest parking should be along the road leading in (Black Birch Trail), parking to the right as you drive in. There is an Event Parking sign but it is not the most visible. There are disabled spaces directly in front of the Common House (100 Black Birch Trail). If we overflow the road, people can use the resident lots to the left and right."

This meetup looks on track for a solid attendance, with 6 "yes" RSVPs so far. ACX meetups czar Skyler Crossman is planning to come, visiting the area from Boston.

We currently communicate via an email list; feel free to email me at alex@alexliebowitz.com to get on the list. Just let me know if you'd like to be a CC or a BCC.

Look forward to meeting you!
