A philosophically inclined skeptic and friend of several community members and fans of Slate Star Codex seeks to convince us " Scott Alexander is a pseudo-intellectual not worth reading." He will do so by cross-examining and apparently revealing just how poor in quality some of the following several popular SSC posts are, including: Were There Dark Ages?, Book Review: Capital in the Twenty-First Century, I Myself Am a Scientismist, Book Review: Seeing Like A State, How the West Was Won, and Against Murderism.

It will likely be done in the style of a colloquium, so sort of a lecture that will field questions during and after the presentation.

  • Will there be a recording or notes taken & posted somewhere?
  • Can there a phone or web presence option?

Update: it will be filmed. There might also be notes. There might be a web presence.

  • I'm working on finding someone who has a good camera for recording. (I'm assuming a smartphone recording would not be preferred). I can take notes and post them on LW.
  • We can set up a web presence option for sure.
