(Update Sunday, September 11 1:18pm: It's raining and the weather forecast says we can expect drizzles for the next few hours. The organizers have spent the last couple of hours in FiDi looking for backup options, but given it's a Sunday, and 9/11, and that we're a large crowd, we weren't able to find any backup venues. We'll try to buy extra umbrellas nearby and hand them out to whoever needs umbrellas. Please bring your own umbrella if you have one. See you soon, same time, same place.
This year's ACX Meetups Everywhere New York City will be on Sunday, September 11, at 4pm.
Location: Pavillion @ Rockefeller Park, Warren St / River Terrace – 87G7PX9M+4J3

If you only attend one meetup per year, you might want to consider attending more meetups. If, after careful consideration, you've still decided to only attend one meetup per year and would like to spend your meetup quota as effectively as possible, this is the meetup to attend. Last September we had over 200 people showing up, including Scott Alexander himself. We don't expect Scott this year, but rationalist meetup organizers from a few other cities plan to be there, as do many other cool people!
Everyone Welcome! Yes, You!
Please feel free to come even if you feel awkward about it, even if you're not 'the typical ACX reader', even if you're worried people won't like you, even if you have never been to a meetup before, etc. If the opportunity cost of attending is not too high to you, come! You'd always have the option to leave if the event does not live up to your expectations, but you might meet some like-minded people if you are here :)
Prepare for Conversations
If you have a topic that you're interested in discussing with people, feel free to prepare a sign or name tag that says "talk to me about <topic>." There will also be name tags available at the meetup.
Here is a list of ice breaker questions to help you start conversations!

There are three organizers of this meetup, and many people who will be at the meetup know at least one of us. If you need to speak to one of the organizers while at the event, simply ask around, and someone will help you identify us.

Our sincere apologies if you're unable to attend because of the rain. Please consider keeping in touch by joining our mailing list at https://groups.google.com/g/overcomingbiasnyc or discord at https://discord.gg/dG8Ag46WQG. Hopefully we'll see you at another meetup soon!)
