We are a meetup group based on the principles of hanging out and good cognitive hygiene.
If you're a fan of rational treatments of broad-ranging discussion topics and are in Ottawa and want to meet up and hang out, then you are in luck this group is for you!
We are always welcoming new members. Please feel free to come check us out even if you feel awkward about it, even if youβre not βa rationalistβ, even if youβre worried people wonβt like you, etc. Meetups are every Friday, with topic discussion starting at about 7pm. Location typically rotates between bars/restaurants, outdoors in the summer, and the homes of members. The biggest events of the year will be advertised here on lesswrong and on our facebook page, in addition to the regular weekly announcement of meetup details in the #announcements channel of our discord. The discord is where all of the group action outside of meetups happens- our daily/ongoing conversation hub. If you'd like to check us out and there isn't a convenient big event coming up soon, email rationalottawa@gmail.com for an invite link to the discord and come on out to any week's event!
Occasionally there will be a small set of relevant readings that will be posted week by week, but you are encouraged to join even if you did not read the readings.
