Discussion article for the meetup : Madison

WHEN: 02 August 2011 06:00:00PM (-0500)

WHERE: 1225 Regent St. Madison, WI

With the intent of being the first of many regular meetups, let's get together on Tuesday. I plan to conduct a few exercises on brainstorming, including the "alternatives procedure" that Anna Salamon taught at the rationality minicamp. Mostly, though: discussion, meeting people, and assigning names, faces and personalities to usernames.

If you'd like to come but this time doesn't work for you, say something. I plan on doing this at least once every two weeks, so we should try to settle on a time that accommodates everyone in the long run.

Agreed - a weekend meetup would work better for me, too (coming from west side of Milwaukee). Although, with baby and business, would only be an occasional attendee

Steven[0461] and I would like to come up from Chicagoland for a Madison meet-up sometime, but we could only make it on a weekend. We would only be occasional attendees at any rate, but perhaps you could also do a weekend meet-up every once in a while, in addition to whatever weekday you settle on. Also, the date in the title doesn't currently match the date in the text.

ha, ahaha. I was thinking of the chord, clearly. :/

I am moving to Madison in September and I planned to start a meetup myself. Awesome!

Sweet! I'll take all the help I can get in planning for these meetups.

I'll probably come

Great! I'll see you there. :)

Heh: I should have posted this a while ago, but there is a Less Wrong Madison mailing list

Is there anywhere I could read about Anna Salamon's "alternatives procedure" prior to today's meetup?

None I know of. And, of course, we didn't actually get to it today, either. I'm sure we'll do this in the future.

I can't make it to this one, but I'll be a regular in general.
