Currently I believe that Benya's L-zombies are a genuine problem for any non-illusionist non-dualist theories of consciousness, including the very popular idea that simulations cause consciousness, leading me to believe that LLMs and other computer software cannot be conscious as a consequence of being an algorithm. I'm also surprised that I've found this argument in only these two posts; if you know of any other places please let me know.

Edit: Specifically, A seemingly impossible pseudo algorithm from Chris van Merwijk's post is the argument against algorithms having consciousness, though now I realize that it's quite vaguely formulated, and it doesn't explicitly mention this conclusion. Idea is that the step that fails is expecting the simulacra to have knowledge of their existence, though maybe it could be questioned if humans gain this knowledge specifically trough consciousness. Perhaps I'll post a crisper version later.
