This link is a summary of my notes on the book. The book follows the change of culture that the author implemented turning a "bad ship" into an award winning one.

The book was suggested to me on the topic of leadership and being a leader that inspires greatness in organisations and people.

Read through the notes. Do you anticipate doing anything differently as a result?

2 things to start:

  1. take note of situations where I find myself being a leader and see what I currently do. In some ways I am a person who does it all myself (particularly when I am alone I have trouble choosing to outsource), in other ways, particularly when I am in charge of other people I usually have difficulty forcing orders onto them.

  2. try to change language towards asking people (in those situations) "what are you going to do?", in the hopes of bringing forward a statement which looks like, "I am going to..." and I can respond with some inquisitive questioning, and eventually "very well...".

Good book and I liked your notes about it. I made some conclusions for myself, but I want to re-read it somehow. This reminded me how I wrote a summary of "The Last of the Mohicans" by James F. Cooper. If you want, you can read the full info here about the book. It was an interesting experience for me to state my thoughts about this work.
