Please share about any outreach that you have done to convey rationality-style ideas broadly, whether recent or not, which you have not yet shared on previous Outreach threads. The goal of having this thread is to organize information about outreach and provide community support and recognition for raising the sanity waterline, a form of cognitive altruism that contributes to creating a flourishing world. Likewise, doing so can help inspire others to emulate some aspects of these good deeds through social proof and network effects.

It's not broad, but recently I remembered about some old friends and acquaintances that I thought could be receptive to my encouragement and recommendations, that could potentially start them on a path to learning more about rationality, at a small cost to me. I had 1 hour rationality-themed Skype conversations with each such person.

Nice! Thanks for spending your time in this cognitive altruism activity :-) Do you have any thoughts about the outcomes of your conversations?

Too early to say if I have achieved any increase in rationality, but in all cases the conversations were a lot of fun for both parties involved. So it turned out I like this as a method to have exciting and meaningful interactions with people, regardless of other considerations.

Nice that it's functional either way

Happy to share that I got a rationality-themed blog on Psychology Today, and my second blog post made it into the top 5 Psychology Today blog posts. It's been viewed by over 17K people at the time I am making this post.

I encouraged my friend and world-expert debiasing researcher Dr. Hal Arkes to summarize his research in a brief video, and posted it on LW and elsewhere. Unfortunately, the sound quality is pretty poor :-/ So right now, I'm working on getting a transcript of his talk and adding subtitles, and will post it to LW afterward.

Less Wrong user James_Miller started a new podcast, about which he posted on LW, and he interviewed me on my research on the science of goal achievement, a conversation that dealt extensively with Effective Altruism as well. Here's a videocast of the interview.

Can't wait to see what other folks did!
