By "hunger for life," I mean the steps in everyday life that all humans must implement to ensure biologically successful reproduction. Currently, there is an exponential growth in the number of ways humanity could bring about its own end, given the political, social, and economic structures of society. I do not support genetic engineering because it essentially eliminates the chance that was given to life on Earth by allowing something to alter Homo sapiens' entire destiny. If this chance exists, nothing has the right to change it. Altering this is the most inhumane thing we could possibly do—it destroys what fundamentally makes us human.
