I said 'primarily through own efforts', but 1) really I partially learned through a class, and partially independently of it, and it's hard to recall the mixture of influences, and 2) 'efforts' is not really the right word, since the learning was really incidental to the fact that I was typing a hell of a lot; it wasn't a deliberate act.
