A while back a series of statistics/data analysis problems loosely inspired by Dungeons and Dragons were posted on LessWrong under the title D&D.Sci. I'm working through them while avoiding spoilers and posting my work in advance of seeing the solutions.
The first post in the series is my stab at problem 1. I still haven't seen the published solution, but I'll writeup my thoughts when I do.
I have very little knowledge or experience with statistics, so I'm going to be doing lots of just-in-time learning.
